THE POWERFUL THUNDERSTORM ROLLED THROUGH PLANO TUESDAY MORNING WITH HURRICANE FORCE WINDS.

MOST OF THE DAMAGE ACROSS THE CITY INVOLVED FALLEN TREES, WHICH BLOCKED STREETS AND ALLEYS.

SOME FELL ON HOUSES.

WIND GUSTS OVERTURNED A SEMI NEAR OAK POINT PARK.

THIS OIL CHANGE BUSINESS HAD A PARTIAL COLLAPSE.

SIGNS WERE KNOCKED DOWN AND TRAFFIC LIGHTS SUSTAINED DAMAGE.

OUR PRIORITY REMAINS CLEARING DEBRIS FROM ROADWAYS AND RESTORING TRAFFIC SIGNALS.

CREWS ARE NOW FOCUSING ON RESIDENTIAL STREETS.

WE'RE ASKING RESIDENTS FOR THEIR PATIENTS AS SEVERAL DEPARTMENTS WORK TOGETHER TO CLEAR ALL STREETS.

FIRST, TO ENSURE POLICE AND FIRE CAN RESPOND QUICKLY TO ANY EMERGENCY.

IF A TREE IS BLOCKING A SIDEWALK, RESIDENTS SHOULD SUBMIT A REQUEST TO FIX IT.

PLANO AT PLANO.GOV/FIX IT, AND IT WILL BE ADDRESSED AS SOON AS POSSIBLE.

THE PUBLIC WORKS TEAM RECEIVED MORE THAN 1500 REQUESTS FOR SERVICE TUESDAY.

WE ARE RELYING ON THE WORK ORDER SYSTEM TO PRIORITIZE OUR RESPONSE.

RESIDENTS ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR CLEARING DEBRIS ON THEIR PRIVATE PROPERTY.

DEBRIS SHOULD BE NEATLY STACKED IN PILES NO LARGER THAN SIX FEET BY FOUR FEET BY FOUR FEET.

DEBRIS SHOULD BE PLACED AT REGULAR COLLECTION POINTS AT LEAST TWO FEET FROM TREES, FENCES, UTILITY BOXES, GAS METERS, AND VEHICLES.

WITH HIGH TEMPERATURES AND HUMIDITY FORECASTED RESIDENTS SHOULD PLAN ACCORDINGLY AND SEEK LOCATIONS WITH POWER AND AIR CONDITIONING TO STAY COOL.

PLANOS LIBRARIES AND RECREATION CENTERS ARE AVAILABLE AS A PLACE TO COOL OFF DURING REGULAR HOURS OF OPERATION.
